Is this considered cheating?

As I sit here ignoring the trick or treaters while watching the Yankees YES Network pre-show, I can't help but wonder if starting to watch hockey games and look at stats is cheating on my sport? I'm not excited about having to share my TV time with ice....thanks for this challenge Kiki, there better be some good fringe benefits.

I'm not really ignoring the trick or treaters....I'm not that mean.

Where do I even start? Which league do I follow, NHL, AHL, what's the difference? Are there divisions in the NHL like baseball has? Does hockey have quirky rules like baseball does, which makes me beyond giddy to anticipate Andy Pettitte going up to bat against the Phillies tonight. This only happens during inter-leauge (American vs National League) play and the World Series..........how fun! Remember when he hit last, he pushed a double and had to kneel at second base (against the Marlins) to catch his breath. Loves it! Anyway, does hockey have divisions like that? If not I'm sure they make up for it by having all these inaudible ref calls that confuse me to no end.

So in my attempt to learn hockey to the point where I can keep score by the end of the local AHL team's season, I've decided to try to learn the sport as compared to baseball.....I guess the first question is who pitches and who catches in a hockey game? Laugh it up.................................this may be a lot harder than I thought.
